Note: The 2022 'Cuegrass festival moved to Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh. We were unable to attend.

'Cuegrass is a single-day festival in downtown Raleigh sponsored by The Pit, an upscale barbecue restaurant. It presents local and regional bands, mostly from the realms of Americana and bluegrass. Because it is held primarily on a couple of blocks of the street in front of the restaurant, 'Cuegrass can get very crowded.







In 2018, the festival presented four shows on a second stage on the street that runs alongisde the restaurant.





In the kids' zone on the porch along the other side of the restaurant, children and their parents were engaged in craft projects.


Barbecue at the N.C. 'Cuegrass Festival

'Cuegrass is a fundraiser for food-centered charities and sells barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs and sides, plus craft beer and sodas. In 2010, Ed Mitchell, who at the time was pit master and the public face of The Pit, said they had cooked 16 200-pound hogs for the festival.







For audience members who maybe were not from around here and had never seen a pig roasting, one was handily on display ...
